LOWELL THOMAS PAPERS In June of 2007 Marist College received a $140,000 grant from the National Archives and Record Administration’s Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) to support a two-year project to preserve the College’s Lowell Thomas Papers. The James A. Cannavino Library’s Archives and Special Collections will be preserving the collection during the next two years and it will be made available to researchers in the fall of 2009. The Lowell Thomas Papers contains almost 1,000 cubic feet of materials documenting the life, career, and travels of Lowell Thomas as he became one of America’s most prominent newsmen. Included in the collection are thousands of photographs, hundreds of hours of audio, thousands of feet of motion picture film, hundreds of thousands of pages of manuscript materials, and numerous artifacts. Marist College is excited to be able to make this remarkable resource available to researchers in the near future. Please contact us with any questions you may have regarding this project or the Lowell Thomas Papers.
