Historical Note

Agnes McCann lived with her family in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her brother, James J. McCann, took over the family feed and grain store and made millions investing in the stock market. James McCann became a philanthropist donating money to the local community and establishing the McCann Foundation which continues to help the community. Agnes and her sister Mary traveled extensively and the postcard collection reflects correspondence between themselves, their family, and friends.
