Miss Howe to Miss Clarissa Harlowe

Anna Howe characterizes Clarissa’s brother and the rest of the Harlowes.  Although she understands why the Harlowe family forbids her to correspond through letters, she is glad that Clarissa has found a way to correspond secretly.  This letter between friends is important because it shows the trust the two women have for each other.  Also, it shows how well they know each other.  Anna Howe insightfulness reveals that Clarissa may hide her feelings about Lovelace.
