Attaching the Laptop to the Network

Welcome to AirFox, Marist's campus-wide wireless network.

Upon powering up the laptop the following screen will appear (this may take a minute as the Cisco VPN program starts). If patron does not require internet access click Cancel.

The patron will need to enter their K/J account and password, then click OK.

Once the K/J account has been successfully entered by the patron the following screen will appear.

Click Continue and the patron will now be connected to the network.

If a patron becomes disconnected from the wireless network they would need to double click on the VPN Client icon on the desktop (gold lock) and follow the steps above.

Click Connect and follow the steps above to login.

Attaching AC Adapter to Laptop

Power supply for the ThinkPad - power cord into outlet, tri-prong into adapter and round metal prong into back right of laptop as you look at the back, YELLOW band around port.

Printing

The HP4250, called lbpub101, directly in front of circulation is the default printer.  You have others to select from.

Problems?

If you experience problems with your network connection or with laptop hardware, please contact the Reference Desk on the second (2nd) floor.

Laptop Do's and Don't

  • Do not touch the surface of a library laptop display.
  • Do not place heavy objects on a library laptop.
  • Do not spill or allow liquids into a library laptop.
  • Do not disassemble a library laptop. Only an authorized IBM ThinkPad repair person should disassemble and repair the laptops.
  • Save and/or email yourself a copy of all work done on a Library Laptop. ALL files are deleted from the hard drive when laptop is powered down.
  • When carrying the latop be sure you have shut down the operation system and turned off the power. Remove any media from the CD-ROM and floppy drives
