New Education Resources at the Library!

This month, the library’s Education liaison librarians have launched two new resources for education students and faculty, along with anyone else who might use children’s literature in their classes, research, work, or homes.

The first is a collection of Storytime Suggestions.

This resource features books from the library’s Juvenile Collection that would be useful for read-a-louds or storytimes. These can also be helpful for curriculum development and lesson planning, as well as for research, class projects, and more. The collection is organized by themes, with each theme featuring 5 to 25 books. The themes were decided on based on prior work with Education faculty and students, as well as research on other libraries and schools. They include lists for topics in the categories of cultural celebrations, genres, basic concepts, academic subjects, socio-emotional development and additional topics of interest. This can be found on our website, as well as on the Juvenile Literature Guide.

The Juvenile Literature Guide is a new resource which provides information and resources on juvenile literature, where to find it (both at and outside Marist), and how to use juvenile literature in the classroom. You can find this guide in Special Topics guides or linked in the Education Subject Guide.
