July 21, 2026 — Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County is honoring Marist University with its Golden Hammer Award in recognition of the University’s engagement with Hudson Valley communities and longstanding commitment to service.

Habitat will recognize Marist at its annual Hearts & Hammers Dinner Celebration on Oct. 1 at The Roundhouse in Beacon.

The Golden Hammer Award recognizes individuals and organizations for exceptional commitment to community service and civic engagement. Habitat Dutchess selected Marist in recognition of the University’s longtime partnership with the organization and its years of volunteer support for local affordable housing initiatives.

Marist students have regularly participated in Habitat for Humanity projects throughout Dutchess County and nationwide through the University’s Habitat for Humanity student organization. Volunteers assist with home construction, repairs, and community service projects aimed at helping local families achieve safe and affordable homeownership. Community engagement is a hallmark of the Marist experience, with students participating in service opportunities throughout the Hudson Valley that connect classroom learning with meaningful civic engagement.

Since its founding in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County has helped families pursue affordable homeownership opportunities across the region.
