Elena Morgan
Ashland, MassachusettsAcademic School
Computer Science and MathCampus
New YorkElena Morgan ’25, chose to pursue her bachelor's degree at Marist because of its esteemed programs in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Data Science. "Initially, I entered as an undecided major," Morgan shared. "However, a random placement in Calculus II during my first year reignited my love for mathematics. Dr. Duy Nguyen and Dr. Matthew Glomski encouraged me to pursue a degree in Mathematics, and I have been grateful for their guidance ever since."
Morgan has found her time at Marist to be transformative on personal, academic, and professional levels. The combination of rigorous academics, strong faculty support, and opportunities for leadership and involvement has set her on a clear path toward a fulfilling career in mathematics and business.
"Building relationships with my professors has been a significant part of my academic experience at Marist," Morgan stated. "The faculty in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics genuinely care about student success. I have greatly benefited from their support during office hours and through tutoring in the Math Lab." Working alongside professors like Dr. Glomski has allowed Morgan to become a mentor to younger students and share her experiences as a Mathematics major.
In addition to her studies, Morgan has been actively involved in several campus organizations. As a first-year student, she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority to make new friends and connect with people across various disciplines. She also participated in the Women's Club Lacrosse team and the Math Club, which helped her develop her leadership skills and meet peers in similar classes. Furthermore, Morgan became a student tutor in Marist's Math Lab, where she shared her experiences and assisted younger students with their coursework.
During her junior year, Morgan was inducted into the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematical Honor Society. "Each of these clubs has greatly enriched my experience at Marist. With so many opportunities to broaden your social circle and gain diverse experiences—and with the advantage of our smaller school size—it's easy to rise to leadership positions in areas you're passionate about," Morgan explained. Her involvement in these organizations led her to serve as Vice President for both Kappa Kappa Gamma and the Math Club, as well as Co-President of Pi Mu Epsilon.
With a career goal of leveraging her analytical skills along with her passion for mathematics, Morgan completed an internship with Travelers Insurance in the summer of 2024. This experience helped her secure a full-time position in the company’s Product Management division, where she will apply her data analytic skills to drive business decisions and generate growth outcomes.
